PRAYER OF ALIGNMENT WITH GOD'S PURPOSES (2)

“…the Lord will build a house for you…”
(1 Chron. 17:10)

Lately, God in His mercies is drawing His people back to effective ways of praying. Prayer is not just sweating in petitioning to God over our needs or those of others, but connecting with God, Who is all-knowing and all-powerful, in ways He is delighted in. God delights to hear His children pray. Zeph 3:17 says, "The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH SINGING". Not many of us will readily believe the last phrase of this verse, but that is just what God said. God also delights to hear His children talk with each other about Him (Mal. 3:16)

David wanted to build a Temple for God. God prevented David from doing that and rather promised to build a dynasty for David where one of his sons will always be on the throne of David (1 Chron.17:3-14). David's reaction has so much to teach us.
1. David responded in humility."Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought us this far (verse16).
2. David responded in Praise. "There is no one like You, O LORD, and there is no God like but you" (verse 20).
3. David responded in faith."And now, Lord, let the promise You have made concerning Your servant and his house be established forever. DO AS YOU HAVE PROMISED"(verse23).

It was the revelation of God's purpose that led David to pray." You my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. SO YOUR SERVANT HAS FOUND THE COURAGE TO PRAY TO YOU" (Verse 25).

God is therefore promising to build dynasties for us through spiritual generations of labourers and leaders. May we grow in responding to Him in humility, praise and faith like David. We will then join heaven in the dances of joy.

May the joy of Christmas and peace for the New Year be ours.

Your brother

Uche Azuonye

ALL ABOUT GOD
Tues., Dec. 1
God is self-sufficient. He is One who contains all, who gives all that can be given, but who Himself can receive nothing that He has not first given. (Acts 17:24-28).

Wed., Dec. 2
God is Jehovah-rapha. This name means "Jehovah heals". God alone has the remedy for the healing of mankind. The Gospel is concerned with the physical, moral and spiritual healing of all people. (Exodus 15:22-26).

Thurs., Dec. 3
God is Jehovah-M'Kaddesh. This name means "Jehovah who sanctifies". A God separate from all that is evil requires that the people who follow Him be cleansed form all evil and has made provision for their sanctification.
(Lev 20:7-8, 1Thess5:23, 1 John2:1-2).

Fri., Dec. 4
God is Faithful. Our hope for the future rests upon God's faithfulness. Because He is faithful, His covenants will stand and His promises will be honoured. (Deut 7:9, Psalm 89:1-8, Lam 3:23).

Sat., Dec. 5
God is Elohim. This name means "Strength" or "Power". He is transcendent, mighty and strong. Elohim is the great name of God, signifying supreme power, sovereignty, and covenant relationship that He is faithful to keep. (Genesis 17:7-8)

Sun., Dec. 6
God is Father. The Creator of the universe cares for each one of us as if we are the only child He has. God taught us to pray "Our Father"(Matthew 6:9). The Spirit of God taught us to cry, "Abba, Father", as in the intimacy of the family. (Romans 8;15-17).

Mon., Dec. 7
God is sovereign. God is in control of our lives. His sovereignty is the attribute by which He rules His entire creation. To be sovereign, God must be all-knowing and all-powerful.(1 Chron.29:11-13).

Tues., Dec. 8
Thank God for answers to various prayer requests made last quarter including the success of the Staff Partner development training, the mission survey trips to Liberia and the wedding between Tongriang and Tony Ameh, among others.

Wed., Dec. 9

But for you who revere my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall (Malachi 4:2).
